Bhubaneswar: For the second time, a Member of Parliament from Odisha has tested positive for COVID-19. After BJP’s Suresh Pujari, BJD MP from Bhadrak, Manjulata Mandal has tested positive for coronavirus.

Informing the development on her Twitter account, Mandal wrote, “On getting the initial symptoms of #COVID19, I got the test done and the report came back positive. My health is fine and stable & I'm in home quarantine. I request that all of you who have come in contact with me in the last few days, please isolate yourself and get your test done.”

Apart from Mandal, senior BJP leader and former Lok Sabha MP Jayaram Pangi also tested positive for COVID-19 on Saturday.

On August 8, BJP’s Member of Parliament from Bargarh Lok Sabha constituency, Suresh Pujari had tested positive for COVID-19.

Odisha's Rural Development and Labour Minister Susanta Singh on Monday informed to have tested positive for COVID-19. The MLA from Bhatli Assembly constituency is the first minister in Odisha to have been infected with the virus.

So far, nearly eight lawmakers from Odisha have contracted coronavirus infection.

Bhubaneswar (Central) MLA Ananta Narayan Jena is also in home quarantine after he tested positive for COVID-19 on August 20.
