Bhubaneswar: The COVID-19 tally in Odisha reached 75,537 after 2819 new cases were reported in the past 24 hours, informed I & PR department on Saturday.

Of the new positives, 1691 cases were reported from quarantine centres while 1128 are local contact cases.

Apart from the new cases, nine COVID-19 patients also succumbed to the disease. Three COVID deaths were reported from Cuttack, two from Sundergarh and one each from Ganjam, Bolangir, Malkangiri and Rayagada district, informed Health and Family Welfare Department.

The COVID-19 death toll in the State now stand at 399.

It is pertinent to mention here that Odisha has been witnessing a steep increase in COVID-19 cases since the month of August. As per the official data, the State has been witnessing 2200-plus COVID-19 cases since August 15.

Of the total 2819 new COVID-19 cases, highest 443 cases were reported from Khordha district followed by Cuttack (257), Ganjam (192), Rayagada (147), Sambalpur (145), Jajpur (120) and Dhenkanal (100).
