Bhubaneswar: Ringing alarm bells ahead of the upcoming monsoon session of the Odisha Assembly, as many as 136 out of 757 samples of MLAs, staff and journalists have come out positive for COVID19.

According to sources, the Chief Whip of the ruling party, Pramila Mallick and MLA Debi Prasad Mishra were among the 136 who have tested positive during a testing drive ahead of the commencement of the Assembly session.

The monsoon session of the Assembly is scheduled to begin from September 29. The persons who tested positive will not be allowed inside the Assembly during the session, informed sources.

According to sources, COVID-19 tests were conducted on 20 MLAs on Saturday which continued on Sunday as well.

As per the reports, all the persons who tested negative this time will undergo COVID19 test again after five days.
