Bhubaneswar: The upcoming Monsoon Session of the Odisha Assembly will follow the same Covid-19 guidelines which are currently in place for the smooth conduct of proceedings in the both upper and lower houses of the Parliament.

Informing the development, Odisha Assembly Speaker SN Patro on Tuesday stated that the Monsoon Session of the State Assembly will be held as per the Parliament guidelines, for COVID-19, starting from September 29.

Special seating arrangements will be in place for the 145 MLAs and a gap of 4 to 5 ft between them will be maintained. Moreover, an all party meeting has been convened on September 25 to chalk out and discuss several other aspects for the smooth conduct of the assembly session amid the pandemic scare.

As per provisions, special seating arrangements for the legislators are being made at the visitors’ galleries. Special shields will be installed in front of the seats of the legislators, Patro informed.

“If any senior MLA doesn’t want or cannot come to Bhubaneswar and intimate us in advance, they can attend the Assembly proceedings from district Collector’s video-conferencing hall, or from their home, if they have the provision and facility,” Patro added.

Patro further stated that except the question hour, the Assembly will conduct the remaining businesses like zero hour, adjournment motion and calling attention motion.
