Bhubaneswar: A day after the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) sealed the office of MP Aparajita Sarangi for 'violating' COVID-19 guidelines, the Parliamentarian today addressed people's grievance on the road in the Capital city.

On the sidelines of the event, the Lok Sabha Member expressed her grief and disappointment that she had to hold the meeting on road and said, "My office has been sealed for 15 days, but my developmental works will continue because we believe in developmental politics not vindictive politics."

While urging people to strictly adhere to the COVID-19 guidelines, she said, “I used to work 14 hours a day in my constituency. Since my office has been sealed now, I have decided to work 15 hours a day.”

Speaking to the media, Sarangi further said, “I have written a letter to the State Chief Minister asking him eight questions. There are pictures and videos attached to the letter. I have urged him to conduct an inquiry into it and publish an action taken report before the public.”

On the sealing of Sarangi’s office, general secretary of the State BJP unit, Prithviraj Harichandan said, “While a lot of BJD leaders go scot free after violating COVID guidelines, punishing only Aparajita Sarangi shows double standards of the government.”

Congress MLA Tara Prasad Bahinipati too targeted the Odisha government over the issue. “Even the leaders of the ruling party do not obey COVID rules. So, they have no moral rights to accuse others," he said.
