Bhubaneswar: A day after Odisha Minister Dibya Shankar Mishra wrote to Centre citing violation of Covid guidelines by Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi, Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has sealed her office in Palaspalli area where her birthday function was organised two days back.

As per reports, a team of the local civic body led by zonal deputy commissioner has reached her office for action against the Covid norm violation. The MP's office will remain sealed for 15 days and would be opened and sanitized before next use after 15 days.

Further, name and address and other details of all the participants of the celebration should be furnished for the conduct of Covid-19 testing. In case any of the participants is found positive, appropriate medical intervention will be followed, a BMC release stated.

Meanwhile, the MP has termed the action as vindictive. Responding to Minister of State (Home) Dibya Shankar Mishra's allegations, Sarangi on Friday questioned why the former is adopting double standards and did not act when a state minister and MLA, both COVID19-infected, participated in the funeral of Pradeep Maharathy.
