Bhubaneswar: Hard work along with understanding the concepts better is the key to success, said the toppers from Odisha in the recently concluded Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) Main 2020.

Odisha's Sourav Soumyakant Das and Stitiprajna Sahoo said that their hard work and the support of teachers and friends helped them score over 99 percentile mark in the JEE Main exam.

While Sourav emerged as Odisha topper with 99.99 percentile mark, he has ranked 128 in the All India Level. Similarly, Stitiprajna become the second topper in the State with 99.98 percentile mark with All India rank 188.

Sourav heaped praises on his teachers and friends for their support and help. “I had prepared myself well for the examination. My teachers had also worked hard in getting me ready for the big day. My friend circle was also good. All of them helped me doing well in the examination,” he said.

Sourav is now preparing for the upcoming JEE Advanced examination scheduled to be held later this month. “It’s pandemic time, the competition will be tough. But I am well prepared for it. I have attended a lot of test series and hopeful of a good result,” he exuded confidence.

Stitiprajna also credited her teacher for her success. “The methodology of our teachers was very good. They were focusing on our weaknesses. I have done a great deal of practice to increase my speed and accuracy,” she stated.

After a long wait, JEE Mains for admission to engineering colleges was conducted from September 1 to 6, amid stringent precautions and social distancing measures in view of COVID-19 pandemic and the result was declared with in only four days.

A total of 24 candidates have scored 100 percentile score in the national-level entrance test which was postponed twice in view of the COVID-19 pandemic. While Telangana has maximum 100 percentile scorers at 8, Delhi is at the second spot with 5 hundred percentile scorers followed by Rajasthan (4), Andhra Pradesh (3), Haryana (2) and one candidate each from Gujarat and Maharashtra.
