Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre has predicted heavy rainfall in several parts of Odisha from today till October 22 under the influence of a probable fresh low pressure area over the east central Bay of Bengal.

The Met Centre has issued 'Yellow Warning' for five districts including Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Malkangiri, Koraput and Rayagada today. The Centre has also predicted thunderstorm and lightning for several south and coastal districts of the State.

“A cyclonic circulation lies over East-central Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood between 2.1 km & 5.8 km above mean sea level. Under its influence, a Low pressure area is very likely to develop over the same region during the next 24 hours. It is likely to become more marked during the subsequent 24 hours,” said Regional Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar in its evening bulletin yesterday.

Squally weather with a wind speed reaching 40-50 Kmph is also likely to prevail over the central Bay of Bengal till October 22, added the Centre.

The Met Centre has also advised the fishermen not to venture into the deep seas areas of Central Bay of Bengal from today till October 22, 2020.
