Bargarh: In view of the mounting COVID positive cases in Bargarh, the district administration has decided to impose shutdown in half of the district. The restrictions will begin tonight from 9:00 PM and will continue till 9:00 PM of July 28.

As per reports, earlier the district administration had announced to enforce the shutdown till July 31. However, Bargarh trade union strongly protested the decision. After a discussion with the district collector, the duration of shutdown was relaxed.

Complete shutdown will be imposed in six blocks under Bargarh sub-division including Atabira, Atabira NAC, Veden, Bhatli, Bargarh, Bargarh Municipality, Ambavona, Barpali and Barpali NAC.

Similarly, Sohela Block, Bijepur Block, Bijepur NAC and Padmapur NAC under Padmapur Sub-division will also remain shut.

During the shutdown, hospitals, nursing home, medicine stores, petrol pump and shops selling fruits, vegetables, grocery and milk shall remain open. Essential shops are permitted to open from 6:00 AM to 1:00 PM. All other shops, private and government offices will remain closed. However, Fire station, electricity office and emergency section at collector’s office will remain open.

With 26 new positive cases reported on Wednesday, the total number of COVID-19 positive cases in the district has increased to 299.

The district of Rayagada has also been shut down for a week after detection of 96 COVID positive cases in a single day. Likewise, a 10-day shutdown has also been imposed in Sambalpur till July 31 to control the outbreak of the viral infection.

Lockdown has also been announced in five blocks of Bhadrak - Chandbali, Tihidi, Basudevpur, Bonth, and Bhandaripokhari, till July 31.
