Bhubaneswar: At a time when the whole country is grappling with drug menace, Bengaluru Police Commissioner Kamal Panth has claimed that the drug trafficking in the Capital city of Karnataka has Odisha links.

After seizing more than 13 quintals of Ganja from a drug peddling gang en-route Gulbarga of Karnataka to Bengaluru, the city Police informed that the drug trafficking has links with Odisha.

“The 46 bags of Ganja sized today have Odisha links. An investigation into the trafficking and its links is underway,” said Kamal Panth.

He further said, “The seized Ganja was first sent to Telangana from Odisha and then brought to Bengaluru in smaller consignments. These are generally sent in trucks carrying vegetable and other materials. For the first time, the whole stock of Ganja has been seized by the police.”

The Bengaluru Police seized the 46 packets of Ganja weighing around 13 quintals in a vegetable-laden truck in Bengaluru on Thursday.

So far, six persons have been arrested and a case has been filed in Seshadripuram Police Station in connection with the drug trafficking.
