Bhubaneswar: The State Transport Authority of Odisha has allowed resumption of driving licence/learner’s licence and VAHAN services in all the Regional Transport Offices (RTOs) across Odisha.

A letter in this connection was issued on Thursday by the State Transport Commissioner-Cum-Chairman laying out all the modalities.

Notably, in an earlier letter Dated 22.07.2020 the General Administration and Public Grievance Department had banned the entry of outsiders in Government offices until 31 August 2020 to prevent the spread of COVID-19. However, the letter also granted exclusive rights to the Heads of the offices to allow office staff and other authorised personnel into the premises.

So, exercising the discretionary power, the STA has directed all the RTOs to allow persons/applicants with valid appointments for DL/LL and VAHAN services.

To maintain uniformity in the slot duration, the STA has also directed all the RTOs to fix the slot duration as half an hour (30 Mins) for DL/LL services.

The RTOs have been asked to decide the per slot quota and number of slots for DL/LL services on their own as per their existing infrastructure and volume of applications.

The STA also authorised RTOs to resume Registration Certificate (RC) related services like transfer of ownership, RC renewal and fitness certificate etc.

The Transport Commissioner however has instructed the RTOs to ensure strict compliance of Covid19 social distancing guidelines and proper sanitisation of their office premises.

Wearing face masks has been made mandatory and persons deviating from the rule would not be allowed into the premises.
