Nabarangpur: Panic gripped the denizens of Nabarangpur after used Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) kits were found dumped along a busy road here on Monday.

Throwing the norms of safe use and effective disposal of the protective gear to the wind, the PPE kits were reportedly thrown on the road connecting Nabarangpur town and the reserve battalion.

Moreover, some PPE kits were seen floating in the nearby water bodies.

The locals have expressed displeasure over the ineffective disposal of the protective gear. “The inefficient disposal of PPE kits will put our lives at risk. The PPE kits must be buried or set on fire after being used. The district administration must not commit such mistakes in future,” said Uttam Tripathi, a local.

Nabarangpur, so far, has reported 206 COVID-19 cases of which 55 are still active. While 150 people have already recovered, the district has reported zero fatalities due to the virus.

On Sunday, discarded PPE kits were found lying in several places of Paralakhemundi.
