Bhubnaeswar: Odisha government on Wednesday issued an order asking all the government employees, who are commuting from places other than the municipal limits of Cuttack and Khurda, not to attend offices in Bhubaneswar till July 31.

The State government has reportedly taken the decision to tackle the massive rise in the COVID-19 cases and local contacts in the last few days.

Both Cuttack and Khurda have witnessed an exponential rise in the COVID-19 cases since the beginning of July. While the positive cases in Cuttack near 900-mark, over 1100 people have already got infected by the disease in Khurda.

As many as 527 persons tested positive for Covid-19 in Odisha today of which 50 were from Khurda while 17 from Cuttack district.

Out of the 50 cases from Khurda, 46 new COVID-19 cases were reported in Bhubaneswar - 22 quarantine cases, 24 local contact cases.

On the other hand, the virus claimed six lives today taking the death toll to 48 in Odisha. Ganjam district has reported the maximum number of three new deaths while Kendrapara, Khurda and Rayagada have reported one death each, informed the Health Department.
