Koraput: The Koraput district administration has announced to clamp 48-hour shutdown in the district from midnight today in order to break the chain of surging coronavirus infection cases.

“Keeping in view the rise in coronavirus cases in Koraput, the district administration has decided to impose a 48-hour shutdown in the region from today midnight till midnight of August 1,” said District Collector Madhusudan Mishra.

The district Collector also requested the people to strictly abide by the shutdown norms. “Strict action will be taken against the people found violating shutdown norms,” added Mishra.

The decision has been taken to restrict the movement of persons from Covid-19 hotspot areas to Koraput and speed up the contact tracing process and testing in the district.

Meanwhile, as many as 66 cases of Cocvid-19 have been detected in the district today taking the total cumulative cases to 690. Active cases have risen to 470 while recoveries remain at 220.
