Bhubaneswar: The number of daily Covid-19 infections in Odisha continued its downward trend and came down below the 1500-mark on Monday, for the first time since the outbreak of pandemic.
As many as 1480 new positives detected in the last 24 hours pushed the cumulative Covid-19 tally in the State to 282695.
The death toll due to coronavirus reached 1259 as 14 more patients succumbed to the infection in the last 24 hours, the State Health and Family Welfare Department said.
Of the fresh cases, 858 patients are from quarantine while 622 are local contact cases. Only four districts of the State- Angul (141), Mayurbhanj (113), Khordha (110) and Cuttack (106) reported more than 100 new cases each.

In terms of death, Khordha recorded three fatalities while Bargarh, Ganjam and Sambalpur registered two deaths each and Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Nuapada and Sundergarh one death each, informed the H & FW Department.

The State Health dashboard revealed that 36,881 samples were tested on Monday for COVID-19 taking the number of samples tested cumulatively across the State to 43,54,956.
