Bhubaneswar: One more Covid-19 patient passed away due to co-morbidities in Odisha while as many as 251 others were found infected with the viral disease in the last 24 hours, State Health & Family Welfare Department informed on Wednesday.

“Regret to inform that a 52-year male Covid positive patient of Ganjam district, passed away due to terminal cancer of the lungs with brain metastasis,” tweeted the Health department.

Of the 251 new cases reported today, 208 were detected from quarantine centres where returnees from other states are lodged while the remaining 43 are local contact cases.

Ganjam district registered a massive spike of 102 cases while 32 cases were identified in Cuttack, 26 in Khurda, 14 in Nayagarh, 12 each in Bargarh and Puri, 10 in Malkangiri and 7 in Sundergarh.

Similarly, Gajapati registered 6 cases, Mayurbhanj and Jharsuguda 5 cases each, Kendrapara and Bolangir 4 cases each, Balasore and Sambalpur 2 cases each, Angul, Sonepur and Jajpur 1 case each. One NDRF personnel who returned from Amphan duty in West Bengal also tested positive for the virus.
