As many as 62,942 out of 71,789, who registered for the test, appeared the CPET-2020 examinations which started on October 22 and concluded on October 22. The examination was conducted with all COVID-19 protocols and separate (isolation) rooms were allotted to COVID positive candidates or suspected cases.

Sources said, six candidates tested positive with the virus appeared the test at some examination centres including Utkal University.

This is for the first time that a single entrance examination was held for admissions into 14,700 post-graduate (PG) seats in different universities and colleges in the State.

Till last year, nearly 9 universities and 59 colleges which offered PG courses were conducting their own entrance examinations for admissions.

The students had to apply for nearly seven to eight colleges and visit their respective campuses for appearing the entrance exam which was an expensive and tiring process. Many students also used to miss the exam if the PG entrance exam of two colleges or universities fell on same date. However, the new system brought all the universities and colleges to a single platform.
