Bhubaneswar: With the onset of April, heat waves continued to shatter temperature records in internal and western pockets of Odisha, even as Bolangir crossed 44 degrees today followed by Titilagarh.
Seven town of the State gripped by the heatwaves has gone up from 40 to 44 degree for last one week.
The entire western region of Odisha sizzled under intense heat, as the weather department said heatwave conditions were likely to prevail in some parts of interior Odisha during the next 48 hours.
At least a dozen places in the state recorded temperature above 40 degrees Celsius. Bolangir became the hottest with 44.2 degree Celsius. Sonepur recorded 43.2, followed by Hirakud (42.9) and Bhawanipatna (42.5).
While both Sundargarh and Sambalpur recorded 42 degrees Celsius, it was followed by Jharsuguda (41.8), Angul (41.1), Talcher and Keonjhargarh (both 41) and Malkangiri and Phulbani (both 40.2), the weather office said.
Bhubaneswar recorded 35.3 degrees Celsius, while Cuttack registered 35.8 degree Celsius.
