SIT formed to probe Khallikote murder case; chargesheet within 30 days

As per latest development, the SIT will conduct a detailed investigation and arrest the remaining accused persons early. Besides, focus will be given on collection of proper evidence (scientific/forensic/digital) and submission of chargesheet within 30 days for early trial of the case.

The Odisha government on Friday announced a Special Investigation Team (SIT) for investigation of the brutal murder in Khallikote on Wednesday which has triggered a war of words between BJP and BJD over political violence.

The BJP leaders recently claimed the murder of Dilip Puhan in Khallikote was orchestrated by Saket Rama Rao, nephew of the late queen V. Sugnana Kumari Deo.

As per latest development, the SIT will conduct a detailed investigation and arrest the remaining accused persons early. Besides, focus will be given on collection of proper evidence (scientific/forensic/digital) and submission of chargesheet within 30 days for early trial of the case.

ADGP (Headquarters) RK Sharma has been asked to camp at Chhatrapur in Ganjam to oversee the law and order situation there. Earlier on Wednesday, one person was killed and three others sustained critical injuries in an alleged clash between BJD and BJP workers in Ganjam.

The BJD workers allegedly attacked the supporters of the BJP while they were putting up party banners as part of electioneering at Srikrushnasaranpur village under Khallikote block.

 ADGP RK Sharma said, “Today, I have spoken with IG, SDPO and IIC and after discussing with Collector and SP, we will take next course of action.”
