Keonjhar: Syringes and medicines meant for distribution among patients were found in large numbers lying outside the Keonjhar National Health Mission (NHM) office today. This at a time when most poor in the district are not getting medicines during the times of need.
Besides raising questions on the poor health services in the district, the medicines lying in open also pose threat of pollution.
Saroj Nayak, a local, stated “The Keonjhar district is a tribal-infested area and the medicines could have been put to use instead of being thrown.”
Feigning ignorance about the matter, Binayak Panigrahi, manager at the Keonjhar district headquarters, said, “I have recently joined and don’t know much about the issue.”
Denying the charges Sudhansu Sekhar Bal, ADMO, said, “The drugs have expired and glass syringe is not in use these days, that’s why there is nothing to comment.”
