Bhubaneswar: BJP national president Amit Shah launched a scathing attack on Congress and its vice-president Rahul Gandhi but was apparently quite soft on Naveen Patnaik and his government while addressing a well-attended ‘Mahasangram Samabesh’ rally here today.
Making only passing remarks on the scams in the State, Shah said Odisha is poor though it is rich in natural resources as the yield is reaped by Delhi. Now, the new mines auction policy of the Centre will benefit states like Odisha and Jharkhand, he claimed, adding that the margin from the auction can be spent by the State government for the welfare of the poor.
Coming down heavily on Gandhi, Shah said instead of asking Modi to give an account of its six-month rule, the Congress leader should first give the account of his party’s 60-year rule in the country.
He criticised the previous UPA government and its policies that led to inflation. However, the skyrocketing market prices were brought under control after BJP came to power, he claimed.
Calling on people to take advantage of the Modi government’s 'Make in India' policy, Shah said such initiative would generate massive employment opportunities in the country in the coming days. He also lauded the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana which eradicated the ‘financial untouchability’ in the country.
Appreciating the efforts of the Coast Guard in destroying the ‘terror boat’ in the Gujarat sea, he said India would continue to retaliate the forces who attacked India.
