Bhubaneswar: Six persons have been arrested by police for blocking chief minister Naveen Patnaik's cavalcade here, said DGP Sanjeev Marik today.
"Although police had received prior intelligence report of a protest the exact location was not known," Marik told mediapersons.
Conceding security lapse in the case the top cop said, "Changes will certainly be made in the carcade system of the chief minister. Efficient officials will be given charge."
Meanwhile, twin-city police commissioner R.P. Sharma said one ASI has been suspended for derelection of duty and recommendation was made to suspend ACP, Kharavela Nagar zone.
Patnaik was on his way to Utkal University in the city to attend the annual function of its students' union on Thursday when dozens of activists of Congress' youth and student wings waylaid his convoy near Keshari Talkies.
Shouting anti-government slogans, some of the protestors also waved black flags, and hurled eggs on the chief minister's vehicle. Patnaik was, however, escorted by the police safely from the spot without any damage to his vehicle.
