Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government is contemplating deployment of more officers in Maoist affected areas of the State to control the activities of the Red rebels.
This was informed by director general of police (DGP) KB Singh while attending the passing out parade at the Biju Patnaik State Police Academy here.
“Currently, we have a lot of vacancies. Vacancies in certain ranks have gone up to 60%. To fulfill these vacancies, we have taken up this job on a mission mode and will fill up all promotional posts very soon,” Singh said.
“We are giving preference to the Naxal affected areas depending on their (officers') age profile and experience,” added the top cop.
Singh continued, “We will send them to the training centres so that they are properly trained. Without compromising on their quality, we want to train them early and send them to the districts for field duties.”
During the 14-month training, the officers have been properly trained on crime control and enforcement of law, the police chief informed.
A total 51 officers took part in the parade.
