Bhadrak: Even before tears of 103 families of Berhampur fire mishap that gutted over 90 houses had dried, another similar incident was reported today from Bhadrak district, where over 75 rooms of 28 families were gutted in fire at Bharatisahi under Kasimpur panchayat here.
As per sources, property worth lakhs of rupees along with household articles have been damaged in the mishap. This apart, several cattle were also charred to death due to the flames.
Though the exact cause of fire is still unclear, it is suspected that the mishap occurred due to an electric short-circuit. Meanwhile, on getting information fire tenders, with the help of some locals, were pressed into service to douse the flames.
On Thursday, over 90 houses were gutted in a major fire mishap at Geta slum near Biju Patnaik Park in Berhampur town, leaving hundreds of families homeless. The mishap was suspected to have occurred due to a cylinder explosion in one of the houses which spread to all the nearby houses of the locality. Immediately, two fire tending vehicles were pressed into service to douse the flames.
The administration later set up a camp in the area and provided packed food to all the affected families. This apart, several locals came forward and assisted the government and provided usable clothes, sweaters and blankets as the families lost most of their household items in the incident.
