Puri: The district administration has served a one-month notice to Ranjana Gajbhiye, wife of suspended SP Satish Gajbhiye, and three others asking them to vacate government land acquired by them at Badakiapala Mouza under Gop tehsil.
“We had registered encroachment case on illegal possession of 12 acres of government land as per the report of the Revenue Inspector. We had fixed the dates for hearing of the case for the fourth time. The counsel of the opposite party had appeared once for the hearing. But as he did not submit the respnse to the show cause notice, we had to serve the eviction notice. We will take action as per the rules under the Odisha Prevention of Land Encroachment (OPLE) Act,” Gop tehsildar Sunita Behera told media persons.
Stating that a case had been registered against 4-5 persons, who have illegally encraoched on around 12 acres of government land, the tehsildar said that the district administration, which has served one-month notice to the aforesaid encroachers on December29 last year, will begin the process to take possession of the encroached land if the latter fail to respond to the notice served on them.
It may be mentioned that the Board of Revenue, Odisha had ordered a Revenue Divisional Commissioner (RDC) level inquiry into the alleged land grab by suspended former Kendrapara SP on August 19 last year. The Board had directed RDC (Central) to conduct an inquiry into the alleged land grab by Gajbhiye in his wife’s name.
