According to highly placed sources, during interrogation which was conducted in two phases with about two hours each, the police mainly wanted to know about the past life of Panda.
Besides, the officials too wanted Panda to divulge about his activities in the red corridor.
“During interrogation, in which DIG (southern range) Amitabh Thakur, SP Berhampur Aniruddha Singh and officials of special intelligence wing were present, the cops grilled Sabyasachi about his Maoist activities in the red zone,” said an official requesting anonymity.
They too asked Panda about the source of his cash and valuables like gold, mobile, laptop and other ornaments which were seized during his arrest on the intervening night of Thursday and Friday from Berhampur.
Since a revolver was seized from the possession of Panda, the officials wanted to know about the weapons earlier he was using and the sources of such weapons, sources added.
An official on condition of anonymity said, police wanted to know about the supply link of weapons to the Maoist leader.
Meanwhile, addressing media on Sunday DGP Sanjeev Marik said that combing operation would be strengthened in the Maoist zones to cripple their activities.
“A chapter of Naxals' history has come to end with the arrest of Sabyasachi. Now we are keeping a tab on the movement of Maoists of Chhatishgarh and Jharkhand who are trying to make a base in Odisha’s Sambalpur, Sonepur, Deogarh districts. We have recovered two weapons and some ammunition during an exchange of fire in Deogarh forest yesterday,” Marik said adding Maoist activities in Narayanpatna have also come down.
Earlier in the day, Subhashree alias Mili Panda, the wife of Sabyasachi was allowed by the cops to meet her husband in the jail.
