Bhubaneswar: The ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Thursday denied ticket to sitting parliamentarian Laxman Tudu from Mayurbhanj Lok Sabha constituency and nine other MLAs while declaring its nominees for second phase polls in Odisha scheduled on April 17.
Announcing the list of candidates, BJD supremo and chief minister Naveen Patnaik named sitting MLA from Saraskana Assembly segment Ramchandra Hansda as the BJD candidate for the tribal dominated Mayurbhanj Lok Sabha seat.
The five sitting MPS who were re-nominated by Patnaik are: Baijayant Panda (Kendrapara), Tathagat Satpathy (Dhenkanal), Bhartruhari Mahatab (Cuttack), Arjun Charan Sethi (Bhadrak), and Pinaki Mishra (Puri).
Besides, Rabindra Jena will contest from Balasore Lok Sabha constituency, the list noted.
Of the total 21 Lok Sabha seats, 10 are going to polls on April 10 while polling will be held for rest 11 Parliamentary constituencies on April 17.
The ruling party announced candidates for the seven Parliamentary Constituencies and 41 Assembly seats. The party’s candidates for these Assembly segments are as follows.
