Bhubaneswar: The mortal remains of Bhubaneswar resident Sujit Ranjan Pradhan, who died in Chicago in the United States of America (USA) last month, was brought to the city on Monday evening following intervention of BJP National Vice-President Baijayant 'Jay' Panda.

On October 4, Pradhan, a resident of Shaheed Nagar, had travelled to Chicago to attend a seminar. But unfortunately, he suffered a heart attack and breathed his last at a hospital there on October 14.

The bereaved family, that included Pradhan’s son Saswat, had sought help from Barabati-Cuttack MLA, Mohammad Moquim for the repatriation of his father’s mortal remains from the foreign land. Following this, Moquim had approached Baijayant Panda seeking the latter’s help to bring back Pradhan’s body.

On October 19, Panda got in touch with the Indian Embassy for initiating the necessary steps to facilitate the return of Pradhan’s mortal remains to his home town in Bhubaneswar. The embassy got into the job and completed the necessary formalities in facilitating the repatriation of the mortal remains of Pradhan.

The last rites of Pradhan were conducted by his family today. The family members have expressed their gratitude to the popular leader for help at the time of distress.
