Bhubaneswar: In a bid to contain the spread of Covid-19, Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has decided to adopt the 'Ganjam Formula', informed Parul Patwari who is on special Covid-19 duty in the State.

According to sources, BMC will form 565 rapid response teams for health screening in slums and other areas. BMC staff will also collect waste from the houses where infected persons are in isolation.

“We will start our door-to-door mega health screening campaign from tomorrow (September 11). Our doctors will be in regular touch with each and every Covid-19 patients currently in home isolation through Zoom video app,” said Patwari.

She also informed that Covid-19 patients in the Capital city can contact the 'toll free no 1929' for any query regarding the disease and related information.

After a spike in Covid-19 cases, the infection rate has declined in Ganjam. The positivity rate, which had earlier spiralled fifteen days back, has come down to less than 10% now despite an increase in testing over the past few weeks in the district due to regular door-to-door health screening campaign, isolation of the Covid-19 patients and increase in rapid tests.

Hence, the Ganjam formula is expected to help BMC contain the spread of the virus.

Earlier, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had directed the concerned administration to take necessary steps and make arrangements to fight and defeat the virus in Cuttack and Khordha where the cases have surged since the beginning of September.
