BMC To Seal 29 Illegal Marriage/Kalyan Mandaps In Odisha Capital

Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Thursday announced to seal as many as 29 Marriage Mandaps and Kalyan Mandaps under its north zone jurisdiction while acting on allegations of their functioning without valid trade license and other necessary prerequisites.

Issuing a notification in this regard, the BMC authorities mentioned that the aforesaid venues are illegal and unauthorised as they were found flouting various norms like running without license, holding tax, proper building plan, waste management procedure and also creating traffic congestion.

As part of the action against the mandaps, the Zonal Deputy Commissioner of the BMC North Zone has directed the joint enforcement teams of BMC and BDA officials to seal the venues on the date fixed by the authorities and submit compliance report on daily basis.

The teams will move with local police personnel to the spot and seal the mandaps while giving zimanama to their concerned owners, the notice mentioned.
