Bhubaneswar: The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) will launch a month-long awareness campaign for sensitising people in the State about the Covid-19 guidelines and precautionary measures for prevention of the viral disease that has so far killed 828 people in Odisha.

BJD president and CM Naveen has directed party office bearers and organisational chiefs, legislators, MPs to observe the public awareness drive from October 2 to November 2.

Party MLAs have been asked to distribute masks to people at panchayat level and make people aware about the proper mask wearing habits to prevent spread of the virus till launch of a vaccine.

CM Naveen has asked party members to come forward and urge public to cooperate in Covid testing, honour Covid warriors and also donate plasma for treatment of serious patients.

The State has one of the highest recovery rates in the country, we have saved over 2 lakh lives in the State and tested over 30 lakh people, Patnaik said in a release.

Each life is precious and has to be saved, with the support of COVID warriors and people of Odisha, Patnaik said.

As per State Health Dept, Odisha has so far witnessed 215676 Covid19 cases. The death toll has touched 828. The State has 37210 active cases, while 177585 patients have already recuperated from the disease.
