Bhubaneswar: The upward trend in COVID19 cases continued in Bhubaneswar, with the capital city reporting its highest single day surge of 90 positive cases on Wednesday.

Of the total 90 new cases, 63 cases have been reported from various quarantine centres while the remaining 27 cases are local contact cases, informed Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) in a release. Moreover, 24 COVID19 recoveries were also reported today.


With this spike, the total cases in Bhubaneswar surged to 859 with 462 active cases. Eleven persons have so far succumbed to COVID19 in the capital city so far.

Earlier in the day, Odisha registered a huge spike of 618 new positive cases taking the State’s overall tally to 14898 while three more fatalities were reported bringing the virus death toll in the State to 77.

At present, the total active cases in the State stand at 4933 while 9864 patients have recovered and discharged from hospitals.
