Bhubaneswar: A legislator from Balasore district on Tuesday tested positive for COVID-19. With this, three MLAs from the State have contracted COVID19 infection so far.

Confirming the news, BJD’s Remuna legislator said, “My swab samples were earlier collected and the test report has come positive for COVID-19 today.”

As per reports, the legislator from Remuna in Balasore had recently come in contact with BJP MLA from Nilagiri, who was the first MLA to test positive for COVID-19.

The district administration has already started the process to identify people with whom the MLA had come in contact with.

Earlier on July 6, the Nilagiri MLA had tested positive for COVID-19 and as per sources the MLA had reportedly attended several government meetings and programmes. Even Union Minister Pratap Sarangi had self-quaratined himself as he had shared dias with the legislator during a government programme and a condolence meeting on July 2 and 3.

Later on July 9, Sarangi’s test report came negative for COVID-19.

Moreover, another BJD MLA from Cuttack district had also tested positive for COVID-19.
