Bhubaneswar: A fresh low pressure is likely to form over Bay of Bengal around August 19, informed Regional Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar on Saturday. This will be the fourth low pressure system on the trot this month.

Meanwhile, several parts of Odisha are already experiencing heavy to very heavy rainfall under the impact of the well-marked low pressure area over north coastal Odisha and adjoining West Bengal.

Chandikhol in Jajpur district recorded highest of 340.0 mm of rainfall in the past 24 hours. Dhamnagar in Bhadrak district recorded 260.0 mm of rainfall while Mahanga in Cuttack district recorded 240.0 mm of rainfall in the last 24 hours.

The overall rainfall deficit in the State has now come to 9 % which was 13 % a couple of days ago.

As per the Meteorological Centre, Odisha has recorded 680.9 mm rainfall between June 1 and August 15 against the average normal rainfall of 749.5 mm.
