Cuttack: Four new novel-Coronavirus cases were reported from another private educational institution in the city. As per information received from Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) Health Officer Dr. Satyabrata Mohapatra, the concerned private college reported first Covid-19 case on Sunday.

The CMC authorities carried out contact tracing on persons who might have come in touch with the positive patient. Later on, swab samples from some suspected cases were sent for laboratory testing out of which three have been found to be positive with Corona infection.

It may be noted that Covid testing and health screening are underway at all educational institutions in Cuttack.

On March 18, as many as 12 students of a private college in the city were tested positive for Corona while a day later, 13 more were also found infected with the virus. Similarly, Covid-19 infection was also reported in as many as 17 persons of another educational institution in the city on March 20.

While the CMC authority is reported to have collected samples from positive cases for genome sequencing, it is yet to inform anything on the presence of any new Corona strain.

On Monday, 25 new cases were reported from Cuttack district with 19 of them alone from CMC area. As per data available with the CMC, there are a total of  107 active cases in the city. So far, Cuttack Municipal Corporation region has witnessed 16542 confirmed cases out of which 16347 have recovered from the infection. Total fatality numbers remain at 88.
