Cuttack: As many as 17 persons of an educational institution in Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) area have tested positive for Covid-19 on Friday.

According to CMC sources, contact tracing of the infected students will be carried out today as per the protocols issued by the Health department. They will undergo rapid antigen tests.

A few days back as many as 25 persons of a private college in the Millennium City had tested Covid positive.

In order to prevent the spread of Covid-19 from the students, the CMC authorities had reportedly lodged the students under quarantine at the college hostel.

The college and its hostel have been shut down for 10 days from Wednesday as a precautionary measure against the viral infection.

Meanwhile, as many as six +2 students from a college at Binika under Subarnpur district have also tested positive on Friday.

The positive cases were detected following RTPCR and rapid antigen tests of 90 students of the college by Binika Community Health Centre.

Earlier this week, two employees of TATA Power Southern Odisha Distribution Limited (TPSODL) in Berhampur had tested positive for coronavirus. Both of them are asymptomatic and they are being treated at a hospital in Bhubaneswar.
