Bhubaneswar: Several places across Odisha especially coastal parts are likely to experience thunderstorm activities including light to moderate rain accompanied by gusty surface winds on Tuesday.

According to weather forecast by the Regional Met Centre, Bhubaneswar, light to moderate rain is expected to occur over the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal and some adjoining districts in next 24 hours.

Moderate to heavy rain accompanied by gusty surface winds reaching upto 40 kmph is likely to occur in several places of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Khordha, Puri, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Sundergarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Deogarh, Dhenkanal, Angul, Boudh, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Malkangiri and Rayagada districts.

One or two places in parts of Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur and Gajapati districts are likely to receive heavy rainfall, said HR Biswas, Director at the Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre.

There is unlikelihood of any large change in the maximum day temperature in the State in next couple of days, Met sources said.

Cumulonimbus cloud typically associated with thunderstorm activity was observed in Bhubaneswar on Monday, Met department tweeted.

On the other hand, Basudevpur in Bhadrak district had recorded maximum rainfall (82.0 mm) followed by Soro in Balasore (80.0 mm) and Brahmagiri in Puri (70 mm) in past 24 hours.

Similarly, Balasore, Pipili, Jagatsinghpur, Anandpur had registered 58 mm, 57 mm, 51 mm and 50.8 mm rainfall respectively over the period. While other parts had recorded below 50 mm rainfall.

 Boudh district had witnessed maximum day temperature at 40.5 degree C in the last 24 hours.

Bhubaneswar and Cuttack saw maximum day temperature at 37.2 degrees C, 37.0 degrees C respectively.
