  • Odisha sees a dip in single-day Covid count

  • Khordha, Sundergarh districts are worst affected

Bhubaneswar: The number of daily Covid -19 positive cases continues to drop for the fourth consecutive day in Odisha. The State reported 9,793 fresh cases with 18 fatalities in last 24 hours. The single-day count had stood at 10,031 yesterday.

The new infection has pushed the cumulative tally to 55,4666 in the State.

Out of 9,793 new cases, 5534 have been detected from quarantine centres while rest 4259 cases are local contacts. 

The cumulative recovered tally reached 45,7569 with 9,706 new recoveries which have been reported in last 24 hours. The active cases in the State now stood at 94829.

Khordha and Sundergarh continue to remain worst affected with registering 1511 and 1018 new infections in last 24 hours. The situation in Cuttack and Angul also remained grim as the two districts recorded 641 and 526 new cases during the period.

Jharsuguda and Nuapada districts reported 404 and 401 fresh cases. Among other districts 302 cases had been detected in Nabarangpur district, 356 in Sambalpur, 351 in Puri, 376 in Jajpur, 342 in Bolangir and 314 in Balasore district. 

Districts recorded below 300 cases are Bargarh (270), Ganjam (276), Kalahandi (224), Keonjhar (244), and Nayagarh 254.

The number of new infections was below 100 in only three districts-Malkangiri, Dhenkanal, Bhadrak. 

On Saturday, the State had recorded 11808 cases while the figure dropped to 10,635 on Sunday and 10,031 on Monday.
