IMD forecast: Heavy rain, gusting wind speed to be 80 kmph on May 7

As per India Meteorological Department (IMD), a cyclonic circulation is likely to form over South Andaman Sea and neighbourhood around May 4. Under its influence, a low pressure area is likely to form over the same region around May 6.

 All eyes are now on the formation of a low pressure area over south Andaman sea as there is a possibility of further intensification of the system.

As per India Meteorological Department (IMD), a cyclonic circulation is likely to form over South Andaman Sea and neighbourhood around May 4.  Under its influence, a low pressure area is likely to form over the same region around May 6. The system is likely to become more marked during the subsequent 24 hours.

Under its influence, heavy rainfall at isolated places is very likely over the Nicobar Islands on May 4 and 5, isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall over the Andaman Islands on May 6 and 7.

Fishermen Warning:

May 4: Squally wind (speed reaching 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph) very likely to prevail over South Andaman Sea and adjoining Southeast Bay of Bengal.

May 5: Squally wind (speed reaching 45-55 kmph gusting to 65 kmph) very likely to prevail over South Andaman Sea and adjoining Southeast Bay of Bengal.

May 6: Squally wind (speed reaching 50-60 kmph gusting to 70 kmph) likely to prevail over Andaman Sea and adjoining Southeast and Eastcentral Bay of Bengal.

May 7: Squally wind (speed reaching 60-70 kmph gusting to 80 kmph) likely to prevail over Eastcentral Bay of Bengal and adjoining north Andaman Sea.
