IMD Issues Thunderstorm, Lightning Alert For Several Odisha Districts

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday predicted thunderstorm with lightning to occur in several parts of Odisha in the next 24 hours.

As per the latest weather bulletin, thunderstorm with lightning is likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Malkangiri, Koraput, Khordha, Puri, Kandhamal and Nayagarh in the next 24 hours.

A fresh low pressure area is likely to form over North Bay of Bengal and the neighbourhood around July 28, said the IMD.

Day 1 (valid from 1330 hrs IST of 25.07.2021 upto 0830 hrs IST of 26.07.2021)

Yellow Warning(To be updated): Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Malkangiri, Koraput, Khordha, Puri, Kandhamal and Nayagarh.

Day 2 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 26.07.2021 upto 0830 hrs IST of 27.07.2021)

Yellow Warning(To be updated): Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Koraput, Malkangiri, Kandhamal, Kalahandi and Boudh.

Day 3 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 27.07.2021 upto 0830 hrs IST of 28.07.2021)

Yellow Warning(To be updated): Heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj. Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Boudh, Kandhamal, Balasore, Khurda, Malkangiri and Koraput.

Day 4 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 28.07.2021 upto 0830 hrs IST of 29.07.2021)

Yellow Warning(To be updated): Heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Kendrapara and heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar and Sambalpur.

Day 5 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 29.07.2021 upto 0830 hrs IST of 30.07.2021)

Yellow Warning (To be updated): Heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Kendrapara Cuttack, Angul, Sambalpur and Bargarh. Heavy rainfall is also likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Jagatsinghpur, Deogarh and Sonepur.
