A fresh low pressure area is likely to form over North Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood around July 28, said the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday.

As per IMD, the South-West monsoon has been active over Odisha and several districts in North interior Odisha, Sonepur, Boudh and Puri districts received heavy to very heavy rainfall under the influence of the existing low pressure system.

“Yesterday’s well marked low pressure area over Northwest Bay of Bengal off north Odisha-West Bengal coasts now lies as a low pressure area over Jharkhand and adjoining north Chhattisgarh,” said the IMD.

The IMD has predicted heavy rainfall in one or two places in the districts of Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and Balasore in the next 24 hours.

Weather forecast and warning for districts of Odisha for next five days:

Day 1 (valid from 1330 hrs IST of 24.07.2021 upto 0830 hrs IST of 25.07.2021)

Yellow Warning (To be updated): Heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and Balasore.

Day 2 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 25.07.2021 upto 0830 hrs IST of 26.07.2021)

Yellow Warning (To be updated): Heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar and Balasore.

Day 3 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 26.07.2021 upto 0830 hrs IST of 27.07.2021)

Yellow Warning (To be updated): Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Balasore, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada and  Nabarangpur.

Day 4 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 27.07.2021 upto 0830 hrs IST of 28.07.2021)

Yellow Warning (To be updated): Heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Bargarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj.

Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Koraput, Malkangiri, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Boudh, Sonepur, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and Balasore.

Day 5 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 28.07.2021 upto 0830 hrs IST of 29.07.2021)

Yellow Warning (To be updated): Heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak and heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Jajpur, Kendrapara Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Puri, Angul, Dhenkanal and Sambalpur.
