Heat Wave Alert
Even as the people of Odisha are upbeat over the possibility of rain and thunderstorm activities, the forecast of heat wave conditions by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has suggested for extra precaution to protect from extreme conditions for the next two days.
The IMD has issued a ‘Red Warning’ for heat wave to severe heat wave conditions in some parts of Odisha. Apart from this, an Orange warning has also been issued for some districts for heatwave, hot, and humid conditions as well.

Day 1 (Valid up to 0830 hrs IST of 16.03.2025):
Red Warning: Heat wave conditions are very likely to prevail at a few places with severe heat wave conditions very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, and Kalahandi.
Orange Warning: Heat wave conditions are very likely to prevail in a few places over the districts of Angul, Sundargarh, Sonepur, and Boudh.
Day 2 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 16.03.2025 to 0830 hrs IST of 17.03.2025)
Red Warning: Heat wave conditions are very likely to prevail at a few places with severe heat wave conditions very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, and Kalahandi.
Orange Warning: Heat wave conditions are very likely to prevail in a few places over the districts of Angul, Sundargarh, Sonepur, and Boudh.
Day 3 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 17.03.2025 to 0830 hrs IST of 18.03.2025)
Orange Warning: Heat wave conditions are very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Sonepur, Boudh, Balangir, and Kalahandi.
Day 4 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 18.03.2025 to 0830 hrs IST of 19.03.2025)
Yellow Warning: Heat wave conditions are very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Balangir, Kalahandi, Boudh, Sonepur, Bargarh, and Nuapada.

As per IMD, several parts of Odisha will experience light to moderate rain or thunderstorm activities from March 19, 2025. This is likely to provide some respite to people from the scorching heat wave conditions to some extent.
