Leopards are powerful big cats and are closely related to lions, tigers, cheetahs and jaguars. It is challenging for common people to differentiate between jaguars, leopards and cheetahs for the similarities of their coats. However, some distinctive features of these cats differentiate them from one another.
First of all, the black spots on the coats of these cats differ. They also differ in size. Leopards are distinguished for being athletic and for their climbing ability. Though encounters between humans and leopards are quite rare, the threats can’t be ignored. In fact, humans are a threat to leopards and other wild animals.
While poaching of leopards and other wild animals has emerged as a serious concern, recently, a video surfaced on the internet that shows the heights of irresponsibility of a group of men.
In the video, a leopard can be seen being escorted by a group of men. As it seems, the men are escorting the big cat into the forest. However, the big cat is openly walking and the men have no measures of defence. Some of the men are simply carrying sticks and some other stuff along with them while a few others are capturing the visuals on their mobile phones. Even two men can be seen touching it with bare hands.
As animal behaviour is unpredictable, there is a high probability of the big cat turning back to attack the group of men and leaving several injured and dead. In retaliation, the humans could have killed the leopard after the attack.
The video shared on Twitter by Indian Forest Services (IFS) official Ramesh Pandey has left the internet divided. Netizens vented out their anger for such irresponsible acts of the group of men.
