The hippopotamus is a huge semi-aquatic mammal that inhabits in rivers, lakes and swamps. These magnificent creatures are herbivores and primarily feed on plants. Though fascinating, hippos are considered one of the most dangerous animals in the world. Online users might have come across hippos attacking crocodiles, tigers, lions and other creatures. However, it would be utterly surprising to see a hippo attacking three adult male lions and leaving them terrified.

Recently, a video surfaced on the internet that shows the hippo attacking three male lions while the big cats are crossing the river.

In the video, the lions' trio can be seen crossing the river. Suddenly, they sense some threat approaching them and speed up. As the camera pans, the huge hippo can be seen moving fast towards the big cats through the water. Before the hippo approaches them, one of the lions is seen moving back to the river bank. However, the other two big cats continue moving on their path.

Suddenly, the hippo engages with one of the two lions and starts attacking it. However, the lion prevents getting attacked with its fast moves. While the second lion escapes from the scene and walks safely to the river bank, the big cat on the radar of the hippo continues to move to the bank while preventing getting caught in the hippo's huge jaws.

Finally, the three lions safely escape from the attack while the hippo stands staring at the big cats.

The video is shared on Instagram by the Latest krugar and has gone viral on social media. The clip shared on X by Nature is Amazing has been viewed over 447K times and garnered over 5K likes. The comments section is also flooded with comments from users expressing their shock.
