Friendship Marriage: Trend of friends marrying each other until finding right partner on rise

In recent years, an interesting trend has emerged in China: friendship marriages. This unique phenomenon occurs when close friends decide to marry, not for love, but to avoid societal and familial pressures.

As traditional expectations in China often emphasize marriage at a certain age like, many young adults feel the weight of these expectations from family members. To bypass this, some choose to enter into "friendship marriages," where two individuals—often best friends—decide to marry each other.

In these marriages, romance is not the focus. The individuals share common values, live together as a couple, and support each other emotionally, but maintain their independence. The arrangement is rooted in mutual understanding and the avoidance of the stigma that often accompanies being unmarried. 

These marriages are viewed as a practical solution for those who aren't interested in romantic relationships at the moment but still want to appease familial pressure. 

One of the most intriguing aspects of friendship marriages is that the individuals can divorce if either person finds a romantic partner later on. This flexibility allows for both parties to live authentic lives while respecting their cultural expectations.
