Apple announced at WWDC 2024 that iPhones will soon integrate advanced AI features under the name Apple Intelligence (AI).
However, not all iPhone users will have access to these features initially. The company has specified which iPhone models will support AI.
According to a report from News18, premium models like the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max will benefit from Apple Intelligence.
Meanwhile, users who purchased the iPhone 15 and iPhone Plus variants will miss out on these AI capabilities.
Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo from TF International Securities explained that Apple Intelligence requires the new A17 Pro chipset found in premium iPhone Pros, along with an additional 8GB of memory for optimal performance.
The previous A16 chipset was not equipped to support these advanced AI features, as the A17 Pro chipset includes a more powerful Neural Processing Unit (NPU) capable of handling complex on-device AI tasks, including the new-generation Siri.

Apple's stringent requirements for running AI mean that users may need to consider upgrading to iPhone 15 Pro, 15 Pro Max, or the upcoming iPhone 16 models later this year to access Apple Intelligence features.
This suggests that Apple expects users to invest in the latest models at a higher cost to utilise these advanced AI capabilities, according to the report.
