Rishabh Pant
Aggressive wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant is currently woefully out of form. He has performed miserably for LSG as a player and a captain in the ongoing IPL 2025. Despite his poor form, he has been made the vice-captain of the Indian team for the all-important forthcoming England tour.
BCCI's decision to make Pant as the deputy of captain Shubman Gill has stunned many fans and experts.
In response, India's chief selector, Ajit Agarkar revealed the reason what made them choose Rishabh Pant as the vice captain for the Indian Test team.
Speaking about Pant's appointment as the vice-captain of the team, Agarkar mentioned his prolific record in recent times. He also said that Pant's ability to read the game well from behind the stumps will come in handy.

"I mean, he's the vice-captain. He's been one of our best batters in Test cricket over the last four or five years and inaround 40 Tests, I believe. He's always had a great view of the game from behind the stumps as a wicketkeeper, and that experience is invaluable. That's why he's Shubman's deputy right now. He can support him with all the experience he brings. He's an incredible player. We're obviously looking at players who can take the team forward in the coming years," said Agarkar.
Notably, Pant has played 43 Tests in his career so far. He has garnered a total of 2948 runs at an average of 42.11 with six hundreds and five half centuries to his name.
