MS Dhoni
MS Dhoni, the celebrated former Indian cricket captain, recently shared his thoughts on a dream team of Indian cricketers he would have liked to see play together, spanning different generations. In a candid discussion on a podcast, Dhoni addressed the intriguing challenge of assembling an all-time One-Day International (ODI) XI, a popular query among former players.
Eschewing an international mix, Dhoni's choice was firmly rooted in his home country, opting only for Indian legends.
"I would stick to my Indian players," Dhoni remarked, selecting Virender Sehwag, Sachin Tendulkar, and Sourav Ganguly as part of his elite group. He highlighted how these remarkable cricketers delivered breathtaking performances at their peak, stating, "Growing up, these were the cricketers we watched delivering match-winning performances."
Reflecting on his illustrious career, Dhoni recalled sharing the field with Yuvraj Singh, notably mentioning the iconic 2007 T20 World Cup match against England, where Yuvraj dazzled the world by hitting six sixes in an over.
"Watching Yuvi hit those sixes was remarkable; in that moment, you wouldn't want to watch anyone else. The contribution these players made to Indian cricket was immense," Dhoni expressed.
Dhoni also acknowledged the difficulty in creating an all-time XI, noting the extraordinary performances from both known and unfamiliar players across different eras.
"There are performances from eras I'm not familiar with, and players at the peak of their talents which were simply mind-blowing," he observed.
Despite retiring from international cricket, Dhoni remains a spectator favourite, playing for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
