A teenage cricket sensation from Samastipur, Bihar, has captured the spotlight with a record-breaking performance in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Vaibhav Suryavanshi, aged 14, delivered a spectacular innings in Jaipur on Monday evening, scoring 101 runs off just 38 balls. His performance, which included 11 sixes and seven fours, was instrumental in Rajasthan Royals' victory over Gujarat Titans at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium.
The youngster helped his team to chase down a challenging target of 210 runs in a mere 15.5 overs. His century, achieved in only 35 balls, set a new benchmark for the fastest century by an Indian in the IPL. This impressive achievement surpasses the longstanding record held by former cricketer Yusuf Pathan.
Following the match, Yusuf Pathan, who had set the previous record while playing for Rajasthan Royals in 2010, expressed his admiration for the young talent. On social media, Pathan extended his congratulations, stating, "Many congratulations to young #VaibhavSuryavanshi for breaking my record of the fastest @IPL hundred by an Indian! Even more special to see it happen while playing for @rajasthanroyals, just like I did. There’s truly something magical about this franchise for youngsters. Long way to go, champ!"
