T Natarajan
Delhi Capitals, one of the prominent teams in the Indian Premier League (IPL), are under scrutiny for not including T Natarajan in their playing eleven. This decision comes even as the team enjoys a commendable season with six wins out of their nine matches so far.
Natarajan, a notable left-arm pacer known for his impressive performance with Sunrisers Hyderabad last season, was purchased at a high price during the player auction. However, he has not yet made his debut for the Capitals this season.
Despite taking 19 wickets in 14 matches with an economy rate of 9.06 previously, Natarajan has been left out, mainly due to the presence of Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc leading the attack.
The Capitals' decision centres on their strategy regarding left-arm pacers, as fielding both Starc and Natarajan together doesn't align with their current team combination. Mukesh Kumar, Mohit Sharma, and Dushmantha Chameera have instead been given opportunities to contribute to the team's pace attack.

Former England cricketer Kevin Pietersen commented on the situation, expressing a challenge to fit Natarajan into the playing eleven. "We can only play 12 players, one being an impact player. And if you can tell me where he fits in at the moment, you would help us," Pietersen said in a press conference.
Meanwhile, former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra has questioned the Capitals' management about their strategy. He criticised the exclusion of Natarajan, particularly given some lacklustre performances in Delhi, pointing out the unusual decisions around Mitchell Starc’s bowling spells.
Chopra suggested including Natarajan over Mukesh Kumar for upcoming matches, arguing that an investment of INR 10.75 crore on a player should justify a spot in the team. "The choice not to play T Natarajan is baffling," expressed Chopra on his official YouTube channel, urging a rethink of the current line-up.
